Exploring Film #4: Hanimex Compact R
Camera: Hanimex Compact R
Film: Fujifilm Superia 200
I bought this little camera online for R130 ($15) and it even came with a small SunPak flash. Cool! Unfortunately, some serious light bleed was also bundled in for free.
This camera is produced by an Austalian company of the same name and is a blatant rip-off of the Ricoh 500 G, almost identical in every way. From what I’ve read, Fuji and whoever owns Richoh bought into Hanimex and I suspect this camera became like a cheaper version of the Ricoh 500 G.
Hanimex Compact R
This camera is kind of like a toy, which is why I bought it. It is small enough to slip into a jacket pocket, cheap enough to take into suspect areas without worry, plus it has a basic automatic exposure mode over and above the usual manual controls. Awesome.
Problem is that the focusing is pure rubbish. In fact, it is so crap that I couldn’t even be bothered to complain …
