Exploring Film #5: Medium format is big!

Rollei_PanF_01

Camera: Rolleiflex 3.5F TLR
Film: Ilforn Pan F 120

Wow, 6x6cm medium format is really big. When I first saw the spool I was impressed but after developing the negatives and holding them up to the light, I have a new appreciation for why this format was used by landscape photographers. Apparently you can get incredible detail with the right aperture and utilising hyper focal distance well.

You typically get only 12 frames on a roll of 120 film, so every shot has to count which I unfortunately failed at… but there is always next time with two more rolls sitting in the fridge :)

Rolleiflex 3.5F TLR

  • 120 Twin-reflex camera
  • 75 mm f/3.5 Planar and a f/2.8 finder lens
  • Shutter speeds:
    Bulb > 1/500s
  • No light meter
